A tatuagem (também referida como tattoo na sua forma em inglês) ou dermopigmentação ("dermo" = pele / "pigmentação" ato de pigmentar, ou colorir) é uma das formas de modificação do corpo mais conhecidas e cultuadas do mundo. Trata-se de um desenho permanente feito na pele humana que, tecnicamente, é uma aplicação subcutânea obtida através da introdução de pigmentos por agulhas, um procedimento que durante muitos séculos foi completamente irreversivel (embora dependendo do caso, mesmo as técnicas de remoção atuais possam deixar cicatrizes e variações de cor sobre a pele). A motivação para os cultuadores dessa arte é ser uma obra de arte viva, e temporal tanto quanto a vida.

Tatuagem, tattoo ou dermopigmentação é um jeito de modificar o corpo por meio de uma marca na pele, sendo um desenho, imagem, escrita ou o que quer que seja. Na atualidade a tatuagem vem ganhando mais e mais publico, sendo que não só gangues ou detentos as têm. Ainda existe um certo preconceito com pessoas tatuadas, a sociedade age como se a tatuagem mudasse o carater ou o jeito de uma pessoa agir. Existe uma massa da população que atualmente aderiu a isso, sendo eles de todos os estilos.
Na tatuagem, existem cuidados sérios a se tomar, como por exemplo:
o local (estudio de tattoo) deve ser esterilizado e limpo,
o tatuador deve ao menos tatuar de luvas, 
as agulhas de tatuagem devem ser esterilizadas com calor a cada seção,
a tinta deve ser própria para tattoo,
e muitas outras coisas.

Um tatuador deve ser bastante abilidoso, pois o desenho que ele fará em sua pele ficará para sempre em você, alguns tatuadores de hoje em dia se sobressaem entre os outros, por seus trabalhos, como:

A tatuagem é uma arte que como qualquer outra, deve ser apreciada, mas há riscos envolvidos nisso, como a dor, o preconceito e varios outros problemas. Se você quer fazer uma tatuagem, escolha bem o desenho, pra futuramente não "enjoar" ou se arrepender, escolha um bom tatuador e um bom lugar pra fazê-lo em seu corpo, não faça nada por impulsos, afinal é o SEU corpo.
